Eastern Cape Information 

ECITI was setup as a sector stimulator for ICT-based economic development prioritising small,

micro and medium enterprises (SMMEs) in the ICT and film sectors in the Eastern Cape. Our programmes are designed to foster the growth and development of the Eastern Cape ICT sector with the aim of positioning the province as one of Africa’s leading centres of ICT excellence.

MIT Technology Initiative

The MIT-AFRICA Initiative creates connections between MIT and Africa through education, research and innovation. We act as an umbrella unit for the institute to support and connect partners at MIT and on the continent. To this end, we arrange the monthly MIT-AFRICA Interest Group (MAIG) and have formed the MIT-AFRICA Advisory Committee as strategic planning group for the Initiaitve.

Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative (CITI)

The Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative (CiTi), formerly known as the Cape IT Initiative, was founded as a non-profit organisation in 1998 by a broad group of

industry stakeholders and inspired citizens.

SoftStart Technology Civ

Softstart BTI provides an integrated package of work space, shared office services, access to specialized equipment and value added services like management assistance, access to finance, marketing and networking support.

Softstart BTI has full support and sponsorship from the SEDA Technology Programme (STP) a programme under the Small Enterprise Development Agency of the DTI. STP sponsors the Business Incubation initiative from its inception to fast track the links between the government, private sector and academia of South Africa.

The House 4 Hack

The House 4 Hack is an initiative to bring together technology specialists and entrepreneurs in an informal setting.   The setting is a 400 m² house in Lyttleton Manor in Centurion and will be equiped with various prototyping tools. Further we plan to provide access to business mentorship, startup finance and training on a variety of topics.

mLab Southern Africa

mLab Southern Africa (SA) is a mobile solutions laboratory and startup accelerator that provides entrepreneurs and mobile developers withthe support they need to develop innovative mobile applications and services.

Reconstructed Living Lab (RLabs) is a global movement and registered Social Enterprise that provides innovative solutions to address various complex problems. It was founded by Marlon Parker in 2008 as an environment for community driven innovation and reconstruction. RLabs creates an environment where people are empowered to make a difference in the lives of others. The RLabs “main hub” is in Athlone, Cape Town but have activity in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.

Invo Tech incubator

Invo Tech is positioned to be a leading business incubator in South Africa to convert innovations and new technologies into sustainable commercially viable businesses. This institution has emanated from a proposal submitted by the Enterprise Development Unit (EDU) of the Durban University of Technology (DUT) to the funder Seda (Small Enterprise Development Agency). It has become clear that the community of innovative thinkers and technologically savvy entrepreneurs has grown exponentially in the recent past. The community of inventors and technocratic entrepreneurs has mushroomed, spurred by globalisation and an insurgence of the information age.

The Innovation Hub (TIH)

The Innovation Hub Management Company SOC Ltd (“TIHMC”), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (“GGDA”), was established by the Gauteng Provincial Government through its Department of Economic Development (DED) to establish and manage The Innovation Hub as a science and technology park to promote socio-economic development and competitiveness of the province through innovation.
